I've been commissioned by my client Swift Aviation to help build out custom vanities, multiple countertop surfaces, and a giant 38ft wall-wrap bartop for their new luxury lounge for the short flight service Jet Suite X (JSX) venture in Phoenix at Skyharbor airport. After consulting with the client we chose Red Gum Eucalyptus burl reclaimed urban lumber with a turquoise resin fill for this project to coordinate with the brand colors and highlight local materials.
Red Gum is also an extremely hardwood providing long term durability. The 38ft bartop was created using 4 large slabs coped around the multi-angle wall and stitched together using the Festool mechanical domino system. The majority of the other vanities, signs, and reception countertop pieces were cut and fit in place on-site. All slabs were polished and sealed with Odie's oil for long term durability, stability, and ease of detailing and buffing out any scratches on-site in the future.
