A few months ago we picked up a large chunk of Sodalite when we made a trip with our designer client to see Barlow's Gems to source Chrysocolla for their art piece.
In between working on commissioned orders we decided to build a river coffee table with it. My son picked out some Maple Burl to use for the top and also helped place and compose the Sodalite in the river canyon. After the clear resin river was cast we decided to use the last of the matching burl slabs to make the tapered legs. The of the burl pieces were cut from matching 2.75" thick slab. Between the extra thick wood top and legs and the added weight of the minerals and resin, this is a very heavy table.
