I created this table using one of the most figured old growth California Redwood Lace burl slabs thats ever been in my collection. The extra thick rectangular shape contrasts the natural live edge nooks around the edges. I created the monolithic column style pedestal base from 4.5" thick urban reclaimed Red Gum Eucalyptus. All cracks and voids have been left open and unfilled, but brush sanded to make all edges smooth and no splinters.  This is a show piece to put on display and enjoy casually, not a heavy use table. Redwood is soft and will show dents and scratches with regular use but can easily be buffed and detailed. The Red Gum wood used to make the pedestal base is extremely hard and very heavy making it ideal to avoi.  The weight of the extra thick wood pedestal also helps stabilize the piece.
